Interfaith Event to Celebrate and Honor the Earth
July 10 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

On July 10th please join neighbors of many faiths as we gather to plant a White Swamp Oak in Rockwell Park and to acknowledge our shared stewardship of the Earth.

We welcome Nighthawk Flying, who will lead us in a traditional Native American ritual for the tree planting. Following that, representatives of many faiths will share prayers or readings reminding us of how all of our spiritual practices include our obligations to care for our planet.

All are welcome to attend, either to listen or to speak. “Seeds of harmony” will be distributed for attendees to plant in their own gardens.

There is no charge for the event but all are encouraged to bring non-perishable foods which will be donated to our Bristol soup kitchens and shelters. Please join us on Saturday, July 10 at 10 a.m. in the Stone House at Rockwell Park. The Stone House is on Jacobs Street at the east end of the park near the Maintenance Building.

Active Dreaming: An Introduction with Donna Katsuranis

Active Dreaming: An Introduction with Donna Katsuranis
July 20 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Active Dreaming is a method of dream working which synthesizes modern Dreamwork and ancient shamanic practices. It views dreams as Experiences, and inspires folks with powerful tools to explore dreams. As part of this lively evening, we will learn the core technique of Active Dreaming – the Lightning Dreamwork process. This is a quick, fun and respectful way to share dreams which empowers the dreamer with some possibilities for what to do with the experience. Sometimes this leads the dreamer to the meaning behind the dream. Sometimes it leads to far more. We’ll learn how to use dreams to develop our intuition and creativity, and how to bring their information and healing into our daily lives.

Donna Katsuranis is an Interfaith Minister and an Advanced Master Gardener who lives and gardens in Brookfield CT. She regularly conducts spiritual and Dream circles, has taught numerous Advanced Master Gardener classes and has lectured throughout the Northeast. Donna teaches and guides walks year-round on Nature, Dreaming, and Spiritual subjects. Her aim is to educate people about the wonders of our connection with Nature, one Dream Gardener at a time.

Aging Well in Your Own Home & Fall Risk Strategies (Online Program)

Aging Well in Your Own Home & Fall Risk Strategies
Thursday, July 21 @ 6:30 PM
Bristol Public Library (online via Zoom)

Strategies to manage home safety & fall risks for seniors!

About this event
Your home is supposed to be your sanctuary, a place where you always feel comfortable and safe. As seniors get older, though, that sanctuary can turn dangerous. Everyday items around your house and run-of-the mill tasks you do regularly at home start to come with a risk of falls. This workshop makes specific recommendations from simple modifications to completely remodeling the home to allow for better mobility and accessibility. There are many solutions to allow individuals of all ages and abilities to “age safely at home”. Presented by Liz Cornish.

Liz Cornish is the owner of New Season In Life, LLC. The company specializes in providing information and guiding seniors and their families through the maze of Assisted Living and Memory Care in Connecticut. Liz’s passion for helping seniors stems from her more than 30 years of experience as a Physical Therapist.

Liz is a Certified Dementia Care Specialist (CDCS) as well as a Certified Rehabilitative Tai Chi instructor.
She holds a BS and MS in Physical Therapy from Springfield College.
